This was my basement at noon:
Quite happily, I sold my store this week and we made the big transition today. It took about an hour to move the inventory and then about 6 hours on the computer to transfer and change all the accounts.
Selling the store has been both validating and enlightening. The new owners(both husband and wife will run the store) were impressed with the work I’d done and full of fantastic ideas for the future. I hope they are incredibly successful.
The store taught me many skills and I met incredible people from all over the world. But most importantly I learned that I really, really love being “just a mom.”
In no way is this a treatise against working mothers. Many mommies need to work and others have wonderful, fulfilling jobs. But my work was unnecessary and made me anxious and cranky with the kids(they are so very delighted to be rid of the store). If I’m going to take time away from these precious people it’s going to be for something I LOVE, something that fills my soul.
And now, it may be nearly 9 p.m, but we are going to PARTY with a bit of this:
