harvest

It’s UEA weekend here, (which supposedly stands for Utah Educator’s Association, but actually translates to Utah Enters Anaheim) and it’s pretty much law that we drop all chores and responsibilities and party it up all weekend long.

My kitchen is strewn with chocolate chips, Halloween decorations and an elaborate chair fort. Small children are draped on every surface reading Calvin & Hobbes and eating ice cream for breakfast.

In an effort to be truly fun, we ventured to Cornbelly’s on Friday with a group of friends. If you live in a state without cornmazes I truly pity you. Our maze this year features David Archuleta in all his glory. As you wander the maze David’s voice croons through the speakers. If that’s not corny enough for you, I don’t know what is.

Actual photo. I know you are impressed. But please be smarter than me and get the discount passes from City Weekly. Why would Cornbelly’s put their best coupon in a paper known for it’s strip club ads? Maybe they are trying to attract a new sort of crowd?

But in all the glory of the maze, playsets, mining for gems, the cow train, princess land, banana splits, and the haunted lizard, I only took two photos.

These:

and I don’t need to say anything more. Because life doesn’t get any sweeter than this.

I thought UEA stood for Utahns Eat Antelope (and Venison) but glad to be educated otherwise. We have corn mazes, but that one is pretty awesome. Stefan looks like maybe the sweetest older brother ever. Why would you ever think that little girl needed a different sibling? She’s so obviously adored.

Ok, so I’ve been stalking your blog for about a year now. You are on my favorites list and I look forward to reading your new posts! I enjoy your photos and your writing- they resonate with me. I wish I lived in Utah in your backyard, but since that doesn’t seem likely, I’ll have to settle for the backyard blog. Just wanted to let you know.

Just wonderful. I’m restraining myself from matchmaking your sons with my daughters. But just barely.
