Spoiled Little Kids Night

In a big family, you don’t visit the movie theater very often. It’s simply too expensive, too hard to schedule and nearly impossible to find a movie everyone enjoys. But even in our non-cable TV household we haven’t escaped the popularity of Hannah Montana and even more importantly, the rumor that Taylor Swift appears in Hannah’s new movie.

So as the house settled and the rain poured down last night, I packed up the littles and drove to Gateway for the 7:20 showing.

“We haven’t had dinner!” Gabe exclaimed at the first stoplight.

“I’ll buy you Happy Meals.” I replied.

“With toys?” Mary hasn’t discovered that every Happy Meal includes a toy.

“Yep, it’s just a night to spoil the little kids.”

Gabe and Mary immediately broke into a chorus, “Spoiled little kids night! Spoiled little kids night! Oh yeah, oh yeah!”

We:

ate Happy Meals

in the food court

with a toy

next to the ride-on cars

which Mary had the foresight to bring 3 quarters to feed the machine(she knows I’ll never be that nice)

and discovered that the little vehicles are more fun sitting still.

Rode up and down the escalator 3 times.

Didn’t do any shopping.

Bought popcorn.

Size large.

Saw all the previews.

Laughed through the whole movie.

And downloaded, “Hoedown Throwdown” the minute we got home.

We’re practicin’. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.

(Mary’s review: “It was OK. Wish the movie had more Taylor Swift and less of that Hannah girl.”)

We haven’t seen the movie but Eve has been watching “Hoedown Throwdown” on the ‘net for a couple of weeks, and we downloaded it for her. She knows all the words and all the moves. She still thinks she needs to see the movie.

You’re such a hip mom, Michelle. Seriously, when I hear some people talk about this, I think, “Gimme a break” but then I read your words and think, “Yeah. Her house is fun!”

We NEVER go to movies, but I couldn’t help but pack up my Annie and take her to see it. I spent most of the movie watching her and not the screen. So worth it!

And Mary’s review was the BEST! That girl makes me laugh hard!

I love it. Keep the bar low — and then you are always “the best mom, ever!”

I love Mary’s comment about that “Hannah girl.” My daughter has (miraculously) decided she doesn’t like Hannah Montana. I am not complaining. One less kid movie for me to see!

We have no Hannah Montana either. But I’ve been heavily introduced to the Hoedown Throwdown by the YW. Apparently it’s all the rage and apparently I’m old.

We should take our kids to the movies sometime. By that I mean I’ll bring Norah and Lu.
