we went from cocooning under piles of quilts to ward off the cold

to dragging the kids mattresses down to the delicious cool of the basement to avoid the heat wave.

from spying a single tightly closed bud in the garden

Photobucket

to thousand of blooms; petals carpeting the ground.

from every evening (and day!) filled with school events

Photobucket

to sitting on the porch watching the lightning strike Mt. Olympus.

And though my to-do list this week is daunting, with the sun on my shoulders and peonies by the sink everything seems easier.

Doesn’t it?

Can’t wait to see it in person!

And, uh, what is ‘cold’ this time of year – and ‘heat wave’? My ‘cold’ is lows of 12 degrees C/53F…

Your roses are knocking me out! Gorgeous. All the photos are superb, especially the top one of the kids sleeping. Too cute! Yes, peonies make the world a better place to live. They are my absolute favorite flower.

Michelle – I love this! How did you manage to capture that shot? We sat outside in my parents’ yard most of the evening watching that same electrical storm – and the triple rainbow. Magnificent! I’m with you. Nothing like sunshine…and my favorite – peonies (which are still shut tight over here!)

Umm… I have to say that my life isn’t easier. I, unlike you, still have school. In fact I’d better go finish up my English project right now. You’ll have to enjoy summer for me as I finish my countdown till school gets out. : )
