“the scariest place in the world”

After two days of hiding her hand behind her back, slipping off for long naps and insisting that– “My arm is NOT broken!” I hauled my little Mary to the doctor’s office, i.e. the scariest place in the world (oh baby girl, if only it was).

Not one but two bones were fractured and Mary fretted for the next few days (except when her brothers distracted her) about the horrific process of obtaining a hard cast.

But with her arm enrobed in pink and a Nutella gelato in hand she pronounced– “That was easy peasy.”

If you’d like to sign it we have a stack of permanent markers. But don’t sneak up behind her with any sudden movements– that arm is pretty tough.

And I’m grateful for her protected, blessed childhood where kindly doctors and plaster casts represent her greatest fears.

I hope little Mary feels better soon. How did she fracture her arm?

Oh, wow. That’s so painful that I can’t believe she was able to go two days insisting it wasn’t broken! (She must reaaaally hate those doctor visits.)

Glad she looks a bit happier about things now, and her pink cast is cool!

    =)

Poor poor Mary. Our Kate broke her leg a couple of years ago, and we ended up having to wait nearly a week for the hard cast. That was not fun. And she chose hot pink, too. Hope the pain is better soon.

Oh poor baby. Esther broke her arm in 3 places when she was 2.5 and after the initial AWFUL visit for x-rays, setting the arm and the first cast – she LOVED going back every week for 8 weeks for a new cast, lollipops and a new color to match her outfits that week. She cried when they finally took the last cast off and she didn’t get a new one. “But I didn’t get orange yet!!” she cried.

I cannot believe Mary waited that long. She is a tough cookie. Give her kisses from us.

Mary must be really tough to go that long. The pink is too cute! Hope she heals quickly.

Way to be brave, Mary! Too many memories of last year at this time and our little Ben and his blue cast. Get well soon!

Sweet Mary. And that sheltered life of hers- where the doctor’s office is the “scariest place” – ride that wave as long as you can. You’re so right. If only that WAS the scariest place. As for the cast, of course she choose pink! Love it.
