Ben’s reading list for everyone

  • Mar 10, 2011

In the last few days, Ben has been scribbling writing lists for various friends and family. I wish you could see his attempts to scrawl stars next to his favorites. He is a man of many skills, but drawing stars is not one of them. Each list is individualized, but a few books fall on each hand-written page. Besides the obvious recommendations of the scriptures and Jesus the Christ, Ben’s absolute required required reading list is:

The Chronicles of Narnia (1-7, don’t skip any; read them in order as quickly as possible)

The Space Trilogy:
Out of the Silent Planet
Perelandra
That Hideous Strength

The Time Quartet:
A Wrinkle In Time
A Wind in The Door
A Swiftly Tilting Planet
Many Waters

The Great Divorce

The Screwtape Letters

Mere Christianity

The Problem of Pain

Miracles

OK, that’s enough, I’m trying to keep it short.

Oh wait!

Unbroken

and

The Year of Living Biblically

and

The Book of Mormon (again)

OK, get to it. Read as quickly as possible.

What a good son, brother, friend he is to leave such wonderful trappings in his wake to keep you company while he is gone.

Love Ben’s taste. I’ve read most of his list, but I haven’t read Unbroken yet. Glad to know it’s as good as it looks. And Year of Living Biblically was so much fun.

Very impressed that he is making up reading lists. Out of those mentioned I’ve read Narnia, A Wrinkle in Time, The Screwtape Letters, and Mere Christianity. Gotta love C.S.Lewis! Yay Ben!

Chet and I decided to follow Ben’s reading suggestions and just ordered The Space Trilogy and The Screwtape Letters. Pass along our thanks to the missionary.
