sort, dust, simplify

Diligent little Gabe carefully boxed the Christmas village, while the rest of us tackled the tree– it took hours and finally Stefan lopped off the top 4 ft. just to make the job easier. Was anyone else as amazed as me at the dust and dirt accumulated under Christmas decor?

Not everything made it back into boxes– some items thrown in the trash, others in the DI pile– and so it goes.

I am frankly terrified of January today. For the last few months I’ve let dust and dirt and white elephants multiply under Christmas festivities- I’ve told so many people, “I’ll do that for you in January.” and now I’m so overwhelmed I want to curl in a ball and sob.

The coming month is laden with excitement– six birthdays, a wedding, a huge concert for Stefan, our anniversary, Mary’s baptism, engagement and baby photos… along with the basics of homework and lessons, practicing and dinner. I’ve been like the teenager putting $2 worth of gas in car and never filling the tank.

Each person in my life is important to me and I want to do the very best for them; I pray I can. I also want to blog– I have at least thirty back posts pending, memories and thoughts I want to record.

So, feel free to email me if I’ve made a promise to you; I’m so scattered I could easily forget something. But also know I’ve made a list and intend to work through it methodically, checking off projects one by one. And I also intend to enjoy all the light and happiness coming my way.

Take a deep breath, make some lists, prioritize, accomplish one of the biggies a day, if you can. It’ll all be okay and you’ll get everything done as it needs to be, when it needs to be. xoxo

Oh no! I am one of the people contributing to your feeling overwhelmed. To think I even emailed you last night asking for a sneak peek. However, I am very grateful for them. The pictures are beautiful! I have looked at them over a hundred times today.

Oh, I hear you on this, friend! It WILL be okay and it’s also okay to ask for the margins and pace you need. That’s one loaded month in your house. xo
