Sunday afternoon, big boys at a church event and Gabe typing away at his latest novel.

Lonely little Mary offered all her best games: tea party, school, bike rides, the trampoline? But Gabe wouldn’t budge, “Just one more chapter…”

Frustrated, Mary listed even more antics, desperate to lure him away from his tale of knights and evil kings, but he was in the zone.

“I’ve got it!” she cried, “you can be an author and I’ll be your maid.” Within minutes she’d arranged pillows and a table, stolen the bell from the chicken coop and tied an apron around her little waist.

“What can I do for you sir?”

A ring of the bell brought, milk, napkins and a little maid eager to write down the order for cinnamon toast.

She’s a good cook.

Maybe she did steal one bite.

First class service.

I’m sure all my writing buddies would like to borrow her for a day, but she’s pretty devoted to her Gabe.
