you can always come back home

  • Mar 29, 2013

He’s home. And my, were we happy to see him.

Still himself, just a little sweeter, a little kinder; just as silly. His knees are covered in thick callouses from hours of prayer. All the kids slept on the floor of his room the first night. A week later we are still staring at him, pinching ourselves to make sure all this happiness is real.

p.s. they say the #1 indicator for happiness in marriage is how much a man’s children adore him and vice versa. Watching Erik’s face in this video made me fall in love with him all over again.

I love every video you’ve made and posted on here. What a wonderful video and the HUG. I could feel the love in the hug you gave him. I can’t imagine not seeing my boys for 2 years. How magical it must be to have him come home and for you to see his smiling face in person. Congrats to your family. And, again, beautiful video!

    Makes me bawl.

I’m like Heathermommy…was dying for your next update. I watched the video the other night but it made me cry again tonite.

Tonight it felt like a metaphor to me, too, of what coming back Home might feel like someday. Like I said before in my too-long comment, there is NOTHING like that day of coming home from a mission.
