I think it’s a good sign that I still feel a tug of sadness when he leaves for work in the morning.

And there won’t be much of a celebration tonight because he’s on a plane to Wisconsin right now. The plan was to meet him in New York City on Friday at the end of his business trip and spend in few days enjoying the city, a plush hotel and time with my brother (and I feel really awful about missing that time with him). But the past few days have been sheer chaos and last night after a day of crying children and sibling rivalry, Erik and I looked at each other and agreed, “We can’t go.”
Other travel opportunities will come, but this weekend we’ll play Ticket to Ride, sit patiently at a tea party, supervise chores and homework, sneak off for at least one dinner alone, attend kid’s basketball games, admire random Lego creations and thoroughly enjoy this beautiful life.
p.s. you may be getting bored with our events, but we’ve only just begun. Three birthdays coming up next week….

“We didn’t get married to go sightseeing and out to dinner, but to create a family together.”
Oh, how I love it. It’s nice to be reminded to the eternal things.

Happy Anniversary to both of you! I love that you can put into beautiful words, many of the things I think. Anniversaries are wonderful and good and we love to celebrate them, but our family is what came of our wedding and that is all that matters to me. You are amazing sweet friend!

Hey Michelle – GO meet your prince in new York and me and kit will come and watch the kids. We have an easy week this week and we have been wanting to see the boys too. Plus our girls would be in heaven. So if there is still time to reschedule or rearrange take the time for you and we will love the family while you are gone;)
