cloudy is wonderful

when the lack of a shadow predicts an early Spring. I’ve always felt a certain responsibility for the groundhog’s prophecies since he emerges on my birthday. And with zero degree weather and frozen pipes upstairs today, an early Spring is something to celebrate.

Many thanks, to all of you who have wrapped me in your love this year, who have mourned and cheered and cried with me. One of these February 2nds I’m going to host a giant party, hire a caterer, fly in friends from all over the world and hand out spectacular carefully-chosen gifts to each person who has nurtured and inspired me. Doesn’t that sound like bliss? I’ve always thought that a birthday is the perfect day to give rather than receive

Until then, I’m going to enjoy the pile of treats on my counter and bask in gratitude for the wonderful people who make every day a delight.

Have you ever eaten a pink butterdream cookie? You need to. I’d offer you one of these but Ben and I devoured them. No worries, I’ll have piles of them for you at my fantasy birthday party.

p.s. um, Erik suspects that you only comment on posts about him where he is shirtless. Hmm, is that true? 😉

Um, I think I comment on other blogs but if Erik feels better thinking that we only comment on his shirtless photos, then let him!

I want to go back to Cafe Normandie with you and eat only cookies (forget soup and sandwiches.)

Have the happiest of birthdays, my dear friend. This will be a better year – I can just feel it -and I hope you feel the love all of us have for you (but especially from me.)

Oh goodness, when we chatted today I had no idea it was your day. So now I’m wishing you a Happy Birthday friend and a dreamy next year of your life. Bonus that it’s groundhog day, that means you can wake up in the morning and it’s your birthday again!

Happy Birthday, I hope it was a wonderful day for you. Yesterday was my birthday as well. I think it is pretty much the perfect day to be born.

I like the idea of giving gifts on your birthday. That way you get gifts all years long. I’m reading The Fellowship of The Ring right now so I can tell you that’s the way hobbits do it. Hobbits have lots of good traditions.
Also I have conclusion: Cafe Normandie is to the Lehnhardts as Trader Joe’s is to the Mitchells. They aren’t exactly the same, but Trader Joe’s is my comfort when I’m being jealous of Cafe Normandie. Happy Birthday!

Happy happy belated birthday to someone who has been inspiring to me over and over again. May this year bring as much joy as the last two have brought heartache.

    XOXO
