food for thought

On Fridays, Xander usually arrives home first (Hans takes a little longer to flirt with the girls).

And although he has nothing more pressing than catching the newest Phineas & Ferb episode Netflix (it’s Friday– must get screentime!) and I’m usually rushing to finish some project before the house fills with children, he begs me to make him something to eat.

It’s not that he’s incapable of making a smoothie or a quesadilla or even slicing up apples to dip in peanut butter– he simply wants evidence he matters; he matters more than anything else I may be doing.

He does.

My kids loves to have me butter their rolls or corn. It’s ridiculous because they can all do it. And funny because if they did it themselves they’d get the buttered item sooner but the it’s not really about butter on bread is it?
