As if Lucky Charms for breakfast weren’t exciting enough, four cute little chicks joined our family on St. Patty’s Day.

Conveniently, we timed the chicks arrival for a week that Erik was out of town.

Not that he’s against them. A true homesteader at heart, Daddy loves the idea of free fertilizer, bug killers and fresh eggs come fall.

But I’m not so sure he would have installed their nursery in the master bathtub.

(baby chicks attract cute chicks)

Gabe and Mary were a bit nervous about holding them at first, but they’ve quickly become experts.

Truth is, we’ve done little since their arrival but coo and giggle and admire their antics. Did you know 3 day old chicks can fly? And run like crazy? And jump?

Meet Abby (the wild one), Patty (named after the day), Betsy (doesn’t she look like a Betsy?) and Delilah (Gabe’s idea– “Hey there, Delilah”).

Their breeds are Araucana, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Buff Orpington and Australorp, respectively.

No matter the breed, they all look delicious to Lucy.

Delilah is a great homework helper.

I’m in love.

Oh my gosh… they are SO cute and sweet. The pictures you captured are adorable! What a fun memory for your children! We had 2 baby bunnies in our house for awhile until they had to move outside. I’m a sucker for baby anything (well, not snakes).

that was me about this time last year. except all of our bathrooms are so small our chicks were housed in our dining room.

they’re not so cute when they grow up, but ask me how much i love a fresh egg omelet for breakfast every morning.
