All over this house, in dusty boxes, old journals and tattered notebooks are scribbled down the cute things my kids have said over the years. Sadly, I think most of Ben and Stefan’s have been lost but thank to the fabulous and more permanent world of blogging I can record these 3 gems from Gabriel today.
As I wiped down counters in the kitchen Gabriel approached me with that look usually reserved for breaking something expensive or confessing to flushing a ball down the toilet.
“Mom, mom, I’m really worried.”
“What are you worried about cutie?”
“I don’t know who to vote for. For president, you know?”
I guess that makes 2 of us. We decided as a family to vote for Gabriel for President!

Everyone is excited for Easter this weekend. We talked extensively last night about how we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, our own rebirth and the rebirth of the earth as Spring comes(hopefully Spring comes-it’s still snowing here).
This morning Gabe said, “Wow, Christmas and Easter– Jesus has the BEST birthday parties.”

In my closet this morning(can you tell he follows me around all day?) Gabriel asked if anyone in our family had shot a bear.
“No sweetie. Daddy’s not a hunter.”
“Well maybe he should shoot a bear and we could eat it and save a lot of money.”
“Hmm, I don’t think bear meat tastes very good, Gabe.”
“Maybe we should pull off the fur before we eat it?”
Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay.
As I left my bedroom I heard Erik instructing Gabe on the economics of hunting. “Once you buy the gun and the permit and reflective clothing, hunting really doesn’t save any money.” Count on dad to get practical about things like this.
“That’s OK.” Gabe replied. “I ‘d still like to eat a bear.”

Dear Gabe,
Let’s make a bear with Rhodes dough. I’ll help you, then we’ll bake the bear and eat it! Baked bears are best with raspberry jam.
I love you!
