General Conference Weekend– always different, always the same

We anticipate conference weekend with absolute giddiness around here. Two days centered around family time, traditions and– best of all– church in our pajamas.

Days before, we had knitting projects ready, cream and strawberries in the refrigerator (for Sunday morning crepes) and our schedule cleared. On Saturday morning we hiked Overlook before coming home, dumping two bins of Legos on the family room floor and settling in for ten hours of instruction/inspiration/pep talks from prophets and leaders.

Ten hours of church might sound like a lot, but when it’s in two hour chunks (with lots of music), and when you’re wearing comfy clothes and have Legos and yarn, it goes by all too quickly.

Xander, of course, spent conference in the MTC and Hansie worked 12-hour shifts for CNA training– so we missed them both. Heather WAS there. Quite a bit actually. But somehow eluded my camera.

Conference highlights: President Holland speaking on Be Ye Therefore Perfect– Eventually, Bonnie Oscarson, The Needs Before Us (which, if you know me well, could be a talk on my life theme), Kit’s dad offering his farewell address Do We Trust Him? Hard is Good and Henry Eyring’s beautiful words about service and the Book of Mormon– Fear Not to Do Good.
