Okay, friends! After years of gushing over C.S. Lewis and promising reading recommendations, I’ve finally written it all up—but it turned into something bigger.
It turned out I have a lot to say about Lewis. Not just which book to read first (feel free to disagree with me), but my photo/video tours of Oxford, insights into Lewis’ life and friendships, deep dives into Lewis & the LDS world, and chapters from my book Subtle Sabotage (my take on Screwtape for LDS women). I want to explore the question of why Latter-day Saints love C. S. Lewis so much, when he thought we were just very strange.
So, I’ve just created a new Substack: C.S. Lewis for Latter-day Saints. Whether you’re a Lewis novice or a seasoned expert, I promise you’ll find something to think about (and I hope you’ll argue with me in the comments!).

If you’re a little battle-worn, a little weary, but still hoping to strengthen your faith—this space is for you.
C.S. Lewis’s words have been the steady drumbeat of my life, a foundational influence second only to scripture. He is more than an academic interest to me; he is a trusted friend whose writings expose the tactics of darkness and shine a bright, fierce light on our divine identity. His wisdom is a balm for the weary and a weapon for the battle.
This passion is a family affair. Erik and the kids are all devoted readers (two sons argued over who will name a child after him), and we often debate the best of his writings. I own stacks of Lewis biographies and several copies of his books. I learned more under the tutelage of Dr. Andrew Teal at Pembroke College in Oxford, wandering through Lewis’ world.
I don’t pretend to know everything about C.S. Lewis, but I have spent a lifetime walking with his words. What I can offer is a trusted guide to the trails I know well, and a fellow seeker on the ones we can discover together. This is my invitation to you. It’s a guided tour through the world of a man whose wisdom has a unique and powerful resonance for Latter-day Saints. We’ll use his work to expose the lies and remind us who we really are.

As a subscriber, you’ll join me each week to explore:
- Curated Reading Lists: Which books are most useful for your life? Which of Lewis’s books resonate most deeply with LDS truth? What order should you read The Chronicles of Narnia?
- Insights from Lewis’ life, his family, and friendships: He was quite a character. I can promise some things will surprise you.
- Photo and Video Tours: Virtual walks through Lewis’s Oxford, featuring my own photos from my pilgrimages to his home (The Kilns), favorite pubs and the places that shaped him. I can’t wait to show you gorgeous Magdalen College where he taught for 29 years.
- Gospel Connections: See how modern prophets have quoted Lewis in General Conference (sometimes they gave him credit, sometimes they didn’t).
- Honest Discussions: While members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints revere C.S. Lewis, he through we were pretty strange. We’ll look into that.
- Sneak Peeks: Be the first to read chapters from my upcoming book Subtle Sabotage: A Demon’s Playbook for Latter-day Saint Women, a modern application of Lewis’s Screwtape Letters that exposes how fiercely daughters of God are being targeted, and our power when we remember who we are.
I hope you’ll join me! It’s always scary to start something new, so I’d like bring a few friends along with me ❤️
