One of our primary goals this summer has been preparing Mary to hike Mt. Timpanogus. Sixteen miles, scrambling up rocks at the top– a feat even for a fit adult or teenager, let alone a ten year old girl.
So we’ve been hiking.
To waterfalls,
and views,
with friends
and brothers,
early in the morning,
just before sunset,
perfecting the crossfit squat with daddy
racing under waterfalls with mommy,
learning to bring water bottles (we may have forgotten a few times),
making wishes
and causing trouble.
Don’t be fooled by all the smiles, there was definitely a lot of whining.
In fact we dubbed these her “whiner pants.” She’s outgrown them and we’ll be giving them away soon. I feel like we should include a warning label. CAUTION: these pants may induce extreme whinyness.
But we’re teaching Mary she’s more capable than she believes, she can do hard things.
(they both want me to get the camera out of their face)
Do you think she’s ready for Timpanogus? I do.

What great captures of time spent on the trail. Timp is a beast (and I assume she did it – photos to come). I’d love to hear some hike recommendations. We love adding to our “done” list!
