Connection Before Correction Copy

Children need love, especially when they do not deserve it.  Harold Hulbert

Take a moment to connect with your teen before you correct their behavior. Remember, teens act out when they are feeling discouraged.

1. “I love you and the answer is no.”

2. “You are more important to me than your grades. I wonder what your grades mean to you?”

3. “I love you and I have faith we can find a respectful solution.”

4. “I know how much you want that and I’m sorry you can’t have it now.”
