When you want to talk to your teen, use your feet to get closer, not your volume.
Yelling across the room (or into another room) impedes communication.
1. Stop what you are doing and get close enough to your teen to see his or her eyes.
2. You’ll notice that you speak softer and with more respect when you speak eye to eye.
3. Talking eye to eye allows you to read your teen’s body language.
