little girls

They are remarkably predictable– sidling up behind me, holding hands, speaking in unison: “Mommy/Michelle, can we play in your closet?”

Being predictable myself, I always say ‘yes.’ And for the next two hours we hear ‘clomp, clomp, clomp’ on the bathroom tile as they remove all the shoes from my closet, arrange them in two straight lines and hold a fashion show.

I’ll make no apologies for my shoe collection; I love heels, I love color and I love the delight the little girls take in modeling them. Mary and Sarah have named each pair and provide a narrative for each other as they sashay down the aisle.

‘Wedding’– yes, those are the shoes I was married in. Pretty boring. My cute husband has aged much better.

and their favorite pair–‘Beauty.’

Admit it, you’d let them raid your closet too.

And they always put the shoes back much neater that I do.

So funny! My friend and I used to raid her mom’s closet and play shoe store when we were little. We loved it because the mom was petite and had small feet, so her shoes weren’t much bigger than ours! 🙂
