Me too, buddy, me too

Walking hand-in-hand home from church with Gabriel, he said, “I’m excited for first grade! I can’t wait to see all my friends.”

I, for one, am feeling wistful about my littlest boy being gone all day. “You do know first grade is a lot longer than kindergarten? You’ll even eat lunch at school.”

“Yep. That will be fun.”

Me–“So do you think you’ll want school lunch or home lunch(our term for packing it ourselves)?”

“Hmm, I think I’ll have home lunch. ‘Cause it will be nice to come home and eat lunch with you, mom.”

OH! My poor mother heart is breaking. I’ll miss him every single day– especially at lunchtime.

Ahhh, Alexandra starts first grade too and I’m dreading it. While so many moms can’t wait for their kids to be in school all day, I will miss her terribly and am cherishing each Summer day we have together right now!

I adore Gabriel. He reminds me of Ethan. Maybe it’s the haircut. 😉
