Michelle —
We are so happy for your family and for Ben. He will be a wonderful missionary and will love Italy. Will actually served in the Rome Mission. We are hoping to travel to Italy in 2013 for the dedication of the Rome Temple which they just broke ground on! Ben is going at a special time for the Church in Italy!
You have some special years ahead of you — there is nothing quite like being a missionary mom. As you prepare for him to go, get ready for lots and lots of tears — happy tears because he’s doing what you have raised him to do, and sad tears because you won’t see him for a while. Bill and Tom served back to back as I am guessing Ben and Stefan will do — and it was a wonderful 3 1/2 years for us as our boys served the Lord.
We sure love and miss the Lehnardts! I wish we were there to celebrate with you, but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your beautiful family!

Congratulations! My husband went to Milan, Italy on his mission (years ago…). Obviously, he loved it.
The work is hard there, the culture is very strong and very old, but the people are amazing. And the food….
I’m happy for you guys.
Oh, and you’ll have to learn all about Lorenzo Snow and the Waldensians (protestants in northern italy). His experiences took place in a small town near Milan.
How exciting!

I just got back from a dinner with a friend who’s son recently returned from the same mission. She said:
1.Don’t buy any new ties til you get there. They are at every other corner shop. Nice and very inexpensive.
2.Get ready for the best food of your life!
3. The Italian grandmas will take you in and smother you like their own. You will love it!:)
