nerd alert

Only 99 days, 14 hours, 28 minutes and 14 seconds (at my last count) to read or reread all the Harry Potter books before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows hits theaters on November 18th.

A day that just happens to be Hansie’s 14th birthday. Do you think we should hit the midnight showing?

I’ll admit it; the trailer made me cry.

My boys inform me that ‘nerd’ is a perfectly acceptable term of endearment (especially for bookish, sword-fighting kiddos)– but ‘geek’ is not OK.

I am so, so happy to hear that I wasn’t the only one that shed a tear at that trailer. I feel like the mother of those kids. They have grown up with Morgan. They are ours. It won’t be easy to let them go.

We always see the midnight showing, so I say go for it.

And geek is just as acceptable as nerd. It is dork that is not okay to me. See this Venn diagram: http://laughingsquid.com/nerd-venn-diagram-geek-dork-or-dweeb/

And then read this one that pretty much labels me for what I am, I guess: http://laughingsquid.com/xkcd-venn-diagram-on-geeks-nerds/

I’m all excited because our Science Center downtown is getting the Harry Potter Experience exhibit from October to January — I’m thinking it might be worth a familiy trip up this way?? Sorry I don’t know how to paste a link so here you go: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/harry-pottertm-casts-spell-on-seattles-pacific-science-center-2010-08-10?reflink=MW_news_stmp

Harry Potter books flying around my house too!

The trailer had my girls squealing with excitement. Cause you know, that’s what girls do, scream and squeal. Can we come and celebrate Hansie’s birthday with you? 14!!! I can’t believe it!

I also have to say I just caught up with Ben’s Segulla post! Love that boy of yours. All of them for that matter:)

Haha so funny, my oldest almost 17 year old daughter on the way home from band explained to me how she is a GEEK not a NERD and how it is better to be a band geek than a band nerd. I just rolled my eyes, laughed and waited for the light to turn green. Still trying puzzle out the difference between the two in my brain. She is well read in just about everything including Harry Potter, these days she is a bit more of a science and culture bibliophile. Maybe the science part makes her a geek instead of a nerd?

It’s only geeks and nerds that know the difference – and that’s what makes them my favourite people!

Your kids are my favourite kids on the other side of the planet AND the entire northern hemisphere, with any definition you use =)

I haven’t finished the series for the first time. I know, *gasp*. I absolutely love it and that is why I am still stuck with starting #5. I don’t want it to be over. So, I can’t even watch the trailer right now.

Jacob and I are raising nerds and we love it! Can’t think of anything better than nerds raising nerds. (Nerd is a huge compliment in my book.)

Very cool. My kids LOVE this series as well. At age 14, yes, perhaps you should hit the midnight showing, although, ugh, I talk big but wouldn’t want to do it myself. I need sleep. :o) Thanks for the trailer link, we watched it. Getting excited on Bixby…
