O Christmas tree!

Leaving the house 5:20 a.m. the day after Halloween wasn’t early enough to buy a tree permit in Heber Valley this year, so on the advice of a friendly ranger, we drove to Wyoming where you can buy a permit and cut your tree on the same day. The day we went (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) they sold more than 400 passes at this picturesque lodge. The woods were filled with snow, the light soft and golden– I think we’ve found a new tradition. Though next year we’ll bring Sammie, Stefan and Heather. And sandwiches.

Can you spot Gabe?
