It’s no secret we love planning birthday parties. Mary dreamt up and discarded a half-dozen ideas over the last few months for her 11th birthday. Finally Mary decided on a fairy tale theme– more woodsy than princessy– Little Red Riding Hood, The Gingerbread Man, Snow White and Red Rose, Rapunzel…
She agreed to wear a costume for photos, but the party was all about comfort (especially for the obstacle course which she spent six days perfecting).
Bingo always makes the perfect game while everyone gathers. We made a custom fairy tale bingo at http://print-bingo.com/
Once again, Mary asked for donations to the Woodrow Wilson School rather than gifts, but a few girls always bring something extra. You’ll have to watch the video appreciate this photo and the one below.
explaining the obstacle course
Ben arrived home just in time.
After bingo and the obstacle course, Mary was insistent on ‘stations.’ She didn’t want her friends to wait in line for anything, so we had four activities going at once: making simple capes, braiding Rapunzel’s hair, creating flower crowns and decorating gingerbread men. It went amazingly well.
Gabe kept everyone laughing, both at cookies decorating and serving at the table.
