Ever since I bought this bike last summer, I’ve been daydreaming about photographing it among red tulips. My tulip bike has been my friend, my companion– I ride it to the store when we only need celery and popsicles, to the church for meetings or to Cafe Normandie for a cup of soup with friends.

Many evenings I follow Mary on her bike over to the elementary school, turning lazy figure eights while she swings across the monkey bars. It makes me feel young and free; I adore the headlights and the bell, the leather tulip seat and the embellished mud flaps. Every time I walk past it in the garage I smile in delight. All winter long it was my promise of Spring.

And so, when the blooms stretched forth their necks in Claudia’s garden, I called and begged for a photo op. And only Claudia would just happen to have the perfect dress, the perfect daughter (who braved 37 degree weather for this shoot) and a husband who ran to the garage to procure a ladder for me.

Sarah truly is this gorgeous, her skin is truly this white. I actually warmed it up several degrees in Photoshop.

and I love the antique milk-wash, the texture. But always I come back to the sunwarmed, brilliant colors…

Wow, those are beautiful! I must know– how did you create the sunflare effect in the corner of the images? I would love to be able to do that (I am a photographer and know PS pretty well).
