Princess Lucybelle Pirate Kitty-Sister

Barbara Walters once quipped, “Parents of young children should realize that few people, and maybe no one, will find their children as enchanting as they do.”

Sigh. We poor mommy-bloggers going on and on about our kids…..

I’m sure that’s even more true of kitties. But no matter, Princess Lucy is six months old today and I plan on prattling on about her to my heart’s desire.

With her silky fur and dazzling green eyes, Miss Lucy has mesmerized our entire family. She’s added a new layer of love to daily life as she wraps herself around our ankles and purrs to be held. When you enter a room, Lucy looks at you pointedly until you say ‘hello’ and acknowledge her beauty. She chases her little green mouse across the floor and then changes her focus and pursues Mary as prey.

Like all kitties she loves playing, climbing, hiding in boxes or any small space and sneaking off for cat-naps.

I found her napping here one afternoon when the kids were particularly rowdy. Obviously, the fish is NOT safe.

In the mornings, Mary wanders the house mourning her school-bound brothers and then turns to her “kitty-sister” for games of dress-up, forts and tea parties (Lucy prefers the tea parties– no cookies, just turkey, thanks.)

The only way to keep her off the dinner table is to put her in a stroller next to Gabe. That way she still feels like part of the family.

Even Ben, who told his buddies for months that Lucy was short for ‘Lucifer’, now concedes that Lucy is a pretty fabulous, furry, funny feline friend.

Why yes, Hansie does wear Christmas jammies all the year-round.

And who can argue with that?

I love that she lets the children do whatever they want with her.
Our 14 yr old cat, Murphy runs & hides. She still wonders why we brought these screamers home from the hospital.
