During the dinner prayer tonight, Mary sighed, “Please bless Daddy in Wisconsin, please bless Ben in Jerusalem, Stefan in Russia and Hansie in the Philippines. And please bless us at home because we really don’t want to go anywhere.”
The past two weeks we’ve barely slept in our beds–
three days on Pioneer Trek,
two days on a camping trip with friends,
putting Hans on a plane for eighteen days in the Philippines,
then off to California for darling Will’s baptism. Erik got one night at home before getting on an airplane for a work trip.
And Xander, my beloved boy, gets the rare opportunity as a fourth child acting as the oldest.
He’s doing a fantastic job: loaning Mary the king cape, reading scriptures with Gabe at night, helping me find the sprinkler turn-off, reorganizing the room he shares with Gabe.We miss the big boys, but I love watching Xander shine (though the light in his room may be left on all week without Hans to turn it off).
I’ll catch up on California and trek and other things soon, first I need to plow through about 4,000 trek photos. I went as the official photographer and parents are peppering me with requests. I’m happy to be home for the rest of the summer, planning a hoedown and giggling on the front porch.
May your days be filled with laughter.
