I’m not foolish or proud enough to think I know all about raising boys– but I do have a lot of experience and a few tricks up my sleeve. But Mary, little Miss Mary, she flummoxes us all.

One moment she is giddy and happy about oatmeal for breakfast; the next she is wailing on the floor because she spilled on her favorite shirt.
After school she is charming and delightful as she volunteers to wash dishes for Stefan (since he has three AP tests this week)
then screaming in fury at the difficulty of her piano practice.
But Hans steps in, puts his arm around her and teaches her the notes, the hand positions, the tricky rhythms
until the tears are eclipsed by smiles.
And I must say, if you’re going to have a spirited little girl, I highly recommend five big brothers to help with raising her.

That is one sweet post, Michelle. I’ve seen more than my share of tears at the piano (and the violin) and never have seen a big brother save the day like that. Love it!

Poor Miss Mary, but I actually feel better knowing that my children aren’t the only ones that cry about learning some of their piano pieces. Yeah for fabulous big brothers!

Whenever I see spirited women (and girls) I just think “Ginger is a spice just as much as cinnamon!”
Luvies!

Oh I adore Miss Mary and truly need to meet her soon. xo

This is so precious Michelle. Hans is my hero. And Mary’s face – shining smile with tears? What a moment to capture.
ps – love seeing the tulips in bloom on your counter! xo

I hope 3 big brothers will be enough?
Mary is so beautiful and loved!

I don’t know what happened but I got a bunch of emotional boys. Super.

Funny how opposite it is here. I pretty well know what to do with my strong-willed females…but the boy leaves me clueless.

Adorable! I love that Hans helps her on the piano.
