Sunday Sweetness

Ah, it’s been a much happier day today. I took this picture of Hans, Mary and Xander this morning all completely enthralled by Mary’s new book, “My Best Friend”– a Christmas present from Mary’s beloved friend Sarah. Gabe was listening in too but ducked behind the chair when I pulled out the camera.

I taught Sunday School and created a big ole Christmas present for myself by calling on several talented ward members to read scriptures, sing and play instruments. We had kids, teengers, adults on the piano, violin, viola, guitar and lot and lots of singing: ‘What Child is This?’, ‘Joy to the World’, ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithful’, ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing,’ ‘Stars were Gleaming,’ ‘Mary’s Lullaby,’ ‘Silent Night,’ ‘Oh Little Town of Bethlehem’ and my favorite ‘I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day’–“Then pealed the bells more loud and deep, ‘God is not dead nor doth he sleep! The wrong shall fail the right prevail with peace on earth good will toward men.'” I remember the first time I read those words in the hymnbook as a little girl. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the song and have loved it ever since.

It was the best lesson I’ve ever given and I hardly said a word. 🙂

Here is Gabriel helping Mary put on a necklace.

And more human burrito play.

We went out delivering little Christmas gifts this evening and arrived home 3 hours later. Our venture should have taken only 15 minutes, but we went in to several of our friend’s homes and ended up talking eating, playing games, watching wedding videos…. ah it’s a beautiful time of year.
