the igloo

Xander and Mary started at 9 am or so. Two little snow angels, they lay on their backs and compacted the snow in a large circle. Using our weeding buckets from the side of the house they filled and packed and carefully created the base of an igloo.

They may have been distracted from their task just a bit.

Hans joined the effort around noon and later,

just as Erik was heading out on errands he said, “I’d better help or they’ll never finish before dark.”

And well, once Daddy gets involved everybody wants to play.

Five days till he turns sixteen; so cute I can hardly stand it.

Amazingly, Mary is the only one who worked from start to finish. She did go in several times however to change out her sopping wet snow pants and mittens. Shh, don’t tell anyone you saw Mary wearing boy pants.

Xander, the interior designer. He favors a white motif.

Almost done, we just need Mary to pack down the snow on top.

Cautious at first, she soon warmed up to the height.

Victory! As Stefan said on seeing photos, “It’s the igloo I always dreamed of building.” We’ll build another one and have wars or maybe tea parties. You never know.

Come on over. We have a tarp on the floor, buckets for chairs and hot chocolate any time.

That is so awesome! BTW, I spied Ben on page 19 on the conference Ensign. He looks incredibly joyful. Glad all of the Lehnardts are doing well!

There is nothing quite like kids and snow. We didn’t have nearly that much, but they still had some fun here and we still have a few remnants of the fun.

That is one serious igloo. I love it.
