Xander at 21

It’s impossible to describe how much we enjoy having Xander at home. If there was ever a person who would be the perfect reality show, it’s Xander. He’s a nonstop humor monologue, ridiculous and kind and also incredibly helpful.

Don’t hold your breath for the Xander Show anytime soon. Any time Mary or I try to video or photograph his wild escapades he sulks and frowns and walks away. He’s funny to entertain us, to entertain himself– he doesn’t care about an audience.

The first of our kids to attend the University of Utah (the older three went to BYU for undergrad) he should serve as the U of U poster child. He LOVES the campus, his teachers, his classes, the LDS Institute. He loves riding the bus and cruising across campus on his electric skateboard (even in the snow).

He’s well aware that his brothers lived on their own at his age, so he makes extra effort to do the dishes, go to the grocery store and rake the leaves. In the evenings he tutors kids on math, French and ACT Prep. If he didn’t have engineering in his sights, I think he’d be tempted to go into teaching. Xander LOVES tutoring and says he thinks of it as helping kids discover their own potential.

We love you to the moon and back Xander! Please stay home for another year. Happy, happy birthday!
